LaunchCamp: Bootstrapping Internet Startups
LaunchCamp is a 4 month intensive of planning, creating and doing for Portland startups. My mission is to help you successfully launch your startup by sharing with you advice and lessons learned from somebody living, breathing and bleeding it. I am NOT a professional business coach; I have no desire be. I am an internet astronaut walking my talk. You’ll have not only my personal time along with the shared efforts of a small group of others launching their startups.
Camp Overview:
LaunchCamp is not about doing things for you… it is about helping you learn how to do the things you’ll need to be doing to get your startup off the ground and rocketing skywards. Launching a successful startup means learning some painful lessons along the way, but many of these lessons I’ve already learned and can help you minimize the pain of learning it yourself.
I’ve been a vocal critic of internet startups that raise huge amounts of money and waste it hiring firms to create their sites, or startups who spend tons of money hiring a team of consultants to put out fires for them… What I’ve heard from many of you is that you get it. You don’t want to raise and spend all that money… but you just don’t know where to start.
If you don’t have technical expertise in building websites it can be overwhelming to decide which platform to build your site on … Open Source… LAMP… Ruby. And even if you know what platform is right, who do you hire to build it? Where do you spend your marketing dollars? What can you do yourself and what should you hire out? Etc.
